While the exterior has undergone rehabilitation and restoration, the interior of the 1913 theater remains unrestored. There are temporary university seats in the auditorium so guests can enjoy fundraising events, but the theater is not operational. There is no operational HVAC system so there is no heat in the winter, nor AC in the summer.  Years of moisture damage have left a bit of a musty smell. There are no working restrooms, nor running water.  There is electricity and limited lighting and portable speakers.  The main floor of the theater has accessible thresholds and while there is a slight slope in the auditorium, it is minimal.  There are exit signs over the exit doors and fire extinguishers near each internal and external exit for safety and staff has been trained in fire safety and extinguisher use by the Augusta FD. We welcome guests and visitors, but as this is a "construction zone," we ask that you exercise caution and ask that you abide by all instructions given by staff.

Policies and Information

TICKETS
Tickets for Augusta Colonial Theater events are general admission seating unless otherwise specified.  For general admission shows, seating is available on a first come, first served basis.  For most performances and events, the house will open 30 minutes before showtime.

PARKING
Free parking is available along Water Street and the surrounding Downtown area.  There are over 950 parking spaces downtown, which means there is PLENTY of space for visitors, just a short walk from the theater. There is a beautiful parking garage on Winthrop Street as well as three large lots, several small lots, and railroad bed parking as well as on-street parking.

Please refer to the maps below for available free parking lots and downtown information.  There is an unloading/drop off area directly in front of the Theater to be used as needed.  Please do not park in that designated striped loading area.

FACILITIES
We care about our patrons and want to ensure that everyone has a great time here at Augusta Colonial Theater. Please be advised that while under construction, we are not an operational theater and all events are for fundraising or community engagement purposes only.  There currently is no operational heating / AC or plumbing.  For events lasting longer than 90 minutes, at least one accessible portable toilet will be made available along with hand sanitizer.

FOOD & DRINK
A small variety of items are available at our concession counters during ticketed events, such as water, soda, and snacks. Food and drink can be enjoyed inside the theater at this time. We ask that you refrain from bringing outside food or beverages.

Beer and wine may be available at some events through contracted vendors. Alcohol will only be available to those 21 and older, with valid IDs, and may not be carried outside of designated areas.  Look for posted signs.

ACCESSIBILITY
As the Theater is not currently operational and is in its historic footprint, accessibility is limited.  Newly installed front entry doors have ADA thresholds.  The main floor including the lobby and the theater auditorium are accessible via wheelchair, though there are some small ramps between the lobby and the theater.  Additionally, the unrestored floor of the auditorium is uneven in places.  For more information on accessibility or to request accommodations, please contact us at 207.209.3525 or [email protected]. During events, staff and volunteers are available to provide assistance.

CONDUCT
We care about our patrons and want to ensure that everyone has a great time here at Augusta Colonial Theater. We are committed to ensuring that our space is safe and welcoming to all. As a "construction zone," we ask that you adhere to staff and volunteer guidance and instructions regarding safety and remain within public areas unless accompanied by staff. We expect all visitors, contractors, patrons, event attendees, volunteers, and staff ("participants") to recognize and honor one another with dignity and respect. We have no tolerance for any acts of harassment or harmful behavior. Please be considerate, respectful and mindful of fellow participants and refrain from behavior that will disrupt others.  Participants are responsible for and should closely supervise children in their care. Physical, verbal or other abuse, intimidation, threats and harassment are not tolerated, nor is stealing or damaging property, weapons, drug use or possession, or open flames. The premises are solely for the use of those attending or participating in Augusta Colonial Theater programs or events or accessing services or offerings held at the premises, and no loitering shall be permitted.

BAG POLICY &
PROHIBITED ITEMS
We care about our patrons and want to ensure that everyone has a great time here at Augusta Colonial Theater.  Oversized bags, backpacks, or luggage should not be brought into the theater and may be subject to bag checks.  Weapons, drugs and drug paraphernalia, open flames, and tobacco use are all prohibited. Animals other than service animals should not enter program areas.

LOST & FOUND
Augusta Colonial Theater will hold lost items for 30 days, after which they will be donated or discarded.  To collect a lost item, patrons can 207.209.3525 or e-mail [email protected].  If we miss your call, please leave a detailed message with the missing item, a description of the item, the section or location in which you believe you lost/misplaced your item, and the best phone number to reach you.

If any identifying information is available, we will do our best to contact you.  Please note that clothing will be donated after 30 days. Credit card, IDs and other personal information will be destroyed after 30 days. All other items will be donated or discarded after 30 days.
